Neurodivergent Therapist in Chicago
Chicago's neurodivergent community is one of the most organized in the Midwest — from the Autism Society of Illinois to the ADHD Chicago support network, late-diagnosed adults here are building identity, not just managing symptoms. Telehealth therapy that meets you where you are.
Neurodivergent-Led Therapy for Chicago Clients
Love Psychotherapy is a neurodivergent-owned, queer-owned telehealth practice. Mx. Love C. Dialogos (They/Them) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Buddhist chaplain, and AAMFT-Approved Supervisor offering strengths-based, identity-affirming care to neurodivergent clients in Chicago and across Illinois.
Chicago's intersectional neurodivergent community — queer, BIPOC, and late-diagnosed — is one of the most politically active in the country. Many clients come in having already done significant self-advocacy work.
Autism — Identity-Affirming
Autism therapy grounded in the neurodiversity paradigm. No ABA, no compliance training, no "fixing." We work with your actual experience — sensory, social, executive, and emotional.
ADHD — Emotional Dysregulation & RSD
ADHD therapy that goes beyond productivity tips. We work with emotional dysregulation, rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD), shame, and the identity wounds that accumulate before diagnosis.
AuDHD — The Intersection
The co-occurrence of autism and ADHD creates a specific experience that neither framework alone captures. AuDHD therapy holds both simultaneously — the rigidity and the impulsivity, the hyperfocus and the shutdown.
Late Diagnosis — Grief & Relief
Late diagnosis brings a complicated mix: relief at finally having language for your experience, and grief for the years you struggled without support. We work with both.
Autistic Burnout
Autistic burnout is a prolonged state of exhaustion and reduced functioning caused by chronic masking and overextension. Recovery is possible — but it requires a different kind of support than regular burnout.
Demand Avoidance / PDA Profile
The Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile is significantly underrecognized. Therapy uses autonomy-supportive, low-demand approaches that actually work for PDA-profile autistic adults.
Neurodivergent Community in Chicago
Chicago has a strong late-diagnosis community, particularly among queer adults in Andersonville, Logan Square, and Rogers Park. The Autism Society of Illinois and CHADD Chicago chapter serve the metro. UIC and Northwestern both have active neurodiversity research programs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a neurodivergent community in Chicago?
Yes — Chicago has one of the most organized neurodivergent adult communities in the Midwest. The Autism Society of Illinois, CHADD Chicago, and numerous peer-led groups serve late-diagnosed adults across the city. Neighborhoods like Andersonville, Logan Square, and Rogers Park have particularly active intersectional ND communities.
Do you work with late-diagnosed adults in Illinois?
Absolutely. Late diagnosis is one of the most common presentations I work with — whether you received a formal diagnosis recently or you're self-identified and still navigating what that means. Many Chicago-area adults were missed in childhood due to masking, gender bias in diagnosis, or simply not having access to evaluators who understood how autism and ADHD present in adults.
What's the difference between ADHD therapy and ADHD coaching?
ADHD coaching focuses primarily on executive function strategies — systems, routines, productivity. Therapy goes deeper: we work with the emotional dysregulation, rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD), shame, and identity wounds that often underlie the executive function struggles. Many clients find they need both, but therapy is where the deeper healing happens.
Can I see you if I live in Evanston, Oak Park, or the suburbs?
Yes. All sessions are telehealth, so you can see me from anywhere in Illinois — Evanston, Oak Park, Naperville, Skokie, or anywhere else in the state. You just need a private space and a reliable internet connection.
